Happy Happy Thanksgiving

Two chocolate peacan pies done.

N and I watching Sesame Street

Joe/Tita still crashed.

Needy N

When it comes to sleeping, N has to have it has way.  First off, he will occasionally go down in his room – but not very often.  I try to have him in there at least 1/2 the night – it’s rare for him to make it the whole night.  At some point, I feel a little body spready across me on his way to the middle of Joe and I.

N’s rules of sleep:
1)  I must be touching mommy or daddy at all times.  This means my head must be on the same pillow as them.
2)  I must push against them all night.  With Mommy, this means Mommy sleeps with either her head off the bed OR on the side of the bed.  Too bad mommy if this hurts your neck.  Daddy holds his own.  Strong daddy!
3)  I must have the appropriate amount of covers which is up to my whims.  This may mean no covers which means I have to scream:  No Covers!  Or, this may mean:  I NEED COVERS.  I will scream until I am satisfied.
3)  I still want milk (gakky) most nights – between 3 – 6:30am.  I must have my gakky.
4)  When having gakky, I must lay on momy or daddy’s upper arm.  I must cuddle the way I want.  Mommy or daddy must wear something soft like cotten or flannel or this upsets me very much.
5)  I need the right type of socks on my feet.  If one comes off, I must beller to let people know.  When Daddy goes to get me new socks, I will beller if they aren’t the type I like.  This makes other people beller.  Mommy then has to get me the right pare of socks.

N’s rules of sleep.  The good news is that when he’s down, he’s down.  And then we’ll all down as well.

It’s been a while not because I’ve been avoiding the blog but because life has been full and good.

N is just so so so so much fun, interesting, compelling, hilarious, and loving lately.  We seem to be getting through the “no longer a napper” stage and he can actually stay up past 6pm on two consecutive days.  It’s hard to describe his new phase because in many ways, it’s an extenion of previous stages but he’s just so much more talkative and funny.

We did have a little incident which I learned from.  I had placed an x-mas gift in our close thinking it wouldn’t be a big deal.  Well, of course someone saw it and was absolutely, completely, and totally hearbroken when I told him it was for another little boy but I was sure that Santa would bring him one.  That seemed to break his heart even more and after an hour of break down, we said uncle.  Frankly it was worth it to see the joy in his face.  He was so happy to have a large, plastic, noise, Buzz.  He just had to share it with everyone from Joe and I to the dog to pretty much anyone who has come across.

Tita is doing well.  She’s really been hitting the books lately and she turned around most of her grades.  She’s accomplished so much in such a short period of time – we are so proud of her.  She’s an absolute delight to have around and we so feel so fortunate to have her part of our lives.  She has a terrific sense of humor and it’s just so neat to see her blossom.

Life isn’t perfect – work is trying for both of us and there are a few other things we need to turn around.  But this is about thankfulness and today, at this very moment, I feel incredibly thankful.

When Nathanael is happy, he bounces.  He walks with bounce.  It’s not on his tip toes, it’s just a bounce.  It’s a funky little bounce.  It’s his happiness tell.

Ocassionally, he jumps.    He jumps in anticipation of something good.  Jump Jump Jump.  Candy in front of me.  Jump.  Jump.  Jump.
