2.5, so far, so good.

I had prepared myself for a challenging year.  I dreaded the terrible 2’s.  I wondered last year how we would make it through the next year.  And yes, I know I am tempting fate with this post but at the half year mark, we are looking pretty pretty good.

What’s great about 2

*  Learning how to dress oneself.  If we put the clothes out correctly, N can pretty much dress himself.  How cool is that?  And sometimes, he get the shoes on the correct feet without us showing him.

*  Eating.  It used to be when N ate mac & cheese, it was a mess.  The table, his face, fingers, clothes etc just turned into a creamy mess.  N can pretty reliable get the food in his mouth and well, mom generally makes more of a mess.

*  Bath time is fun time.  N loves it, no one needs to take a bath with him. Yes, we watch him every single moment to make sure that he’s safe, but he loves to play, splash, “swim” and I’m generally not fearful about N bonking his head at every turn.

*  Humor.  N is developing quite the sense of humor.  Little things like the “your a cutie pie” game (each of us insisting that the other is a cutie pie) and turn the head at the last moment kisses.  He’s likes to laugh and it shows.

*  Hand/eye coordination.  N can hit a ball when pitched to him (not always but enough to say that it isn’t luck).  N can kick a ball (too hard sometimes).

I keep hearing to dread the 3’s if you didn’t get the terrible 2s.  And that may clearly happen but now that N has communication & physical skills, we are in such better shape then we were a year ago.
