The world’s worst gingerbread house

Before Christmas, I purchased a gingerbread house kit from Target.  When the dog ate the first one, I should have taken it as a sign that this was not meant to be.  I am not crafty, have not crafty desires, and no discernable crafty skills.  But, I had this vision of the Great Franz Krueger Gingerbread House.  Well, we didn’t get to it before Christmas which was fine.  It was a great little Saturday project on a cold day in January.

Now, no one who knows me expects anything beyond a pretty ugly looking thing; but, Joe is an engineer so he one would think that he would know how to make it structurally sound.

Despite how it looked, Nathanel loved it.

We had a little Viking fever here

N’s cute little bums!

And finally, we went to school today to enjoy Nathanael’s last day of “star of the week.”  We brought cake.

There was a little voice in the back of my head that wondered if N would break down if we came and then left.  Well, the little voice was right.  N was tired to begin with so we tried to sneak out after we thought he’d gone down for the nap but those little eyes popped open & the tears flowed.  I had to go to a meeting and that was probably one of my top 5 guilt moments – he was really feeling vulnerable and sad.  Ugh.

Anyway, I enjoyed seeing all the kiddos and how the eat lunch and it was SO QUIET!  They just sat there and ate their pizza in silence.  Of course, they all loved the cake.  And, it was really fascinating to see how they hussle 14 toddlers from lunch, to potty/diapers to nap time.  Quite impressive!
