Photos Etc.

We did go out and get the tree — it was cold, cold, cold!  N was trooper and well, let’s just say that cold weather made the pick easy!  Of course, we have a tree that has zero decorations on the bottom and all of them on the top.  N so badly wants to grab them and I can understand why.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to grab a little sparkly ball?

I think he was still so cold from the tree hunt that he couldn’t be scared of Santa.

It’s the most wonderful time of year

I love this time of year.  Every year I love it and am angry with myself for just getting into it just a few days before Christmas.  This year, I want to be different.

It’s been fun thinking about the traditions Joe and I want to have as a family.  We are pondering having the meal on x-mas day be a celebration of Nathanael’s native country.  We celebrate on x-mas eve as a large family so it seems like it would make sense to do this on x-mas day.  I need to figure out what foods to serve and what else to do.

I’d also like to start giving Nathanael a special x-mas ornament every year – something that is an achievement (a friend’s mom from work did this for her every year and I thought it sounded lovely).  So, I ordered a baby just learning to walk.  I also ordered the family an ornament to celebrate our first year together.

If we can pull it together, we are going to go get a tree on Saturday.  It’s been cold, cold, cold here but I’d like to pull this off but we’ll see.

Nathanael is going through an exceptionally cute stage – just exploding developmentally and full of energy.  It’s exhausting but so fun to experience.  We continue to feel so fortunate and are particularly appreciative of his foster family who clearly loved him and gave him an amazing start in in life.

November Misc

So November was a pretty big month – two ear infections, one new molar, a 15 month check-up, and just general personality explosion.  N is really a terrific walker and is getting so much more control over his body and limbs.  He’s also much more curious!  He is getting into everything and we really have to watch him.

He is starting to jibber-jabber (jargon) all the time.  He seems to have a constant stream of expressed thoughts and ideas.  Mostly I just nod along and respond with similar sounds.  He’s also getting more words – moma is pretty clear and while he doesn’t say no, he def swings his head from side to side.  At 4am this morning (when he couldn’t sleep) he kept swinging his head from side to side telling me no – but i wasn’t sure what the no was all about.  i think he said milk yesterday.

thanksgiving was good but didn’t go as planned.  we were to go to joe’s dad but with a killer ear infection we rethought that.  so, we went to my parents for the meal and mostly shut it down this week-end, he was feeling pretty crummy.  yesterday he was back to the baby we know and love – all energy and smiles.
