Misc Thoughts & Observations

So, it’s been a fun week.  He’s walking for good stretches at a time.  It’s super cute – he doesn’t really use his knees and he walks with very short steps that are a bit to the side vs forward.  He’s def in the drunken sailor walk phase and we are loving it!

He’s a happy baby in the morning and full of the smiles.  Of course, he hates that I have to get ready for work and just wants to engage, play, and have fun.  I am going to try and get up a bit earlier so I can spend some fun time with him in the am so that it’s not just rush, rush, rush.  It makes him unhappy and I think that’s a perfectly reasonable response.

Evenings are pretty tough.  He’s not a good napper – Way! too! much! going! on! in! daycare! More frequently then I like, it’s only 30 minutes a day.  On those days he’s a total mess in the evenings.  We are really trying to keep a consistent 7:45 – 8pm bedtime so on high melt down evenings, we hold him a great deal.

Our day care is working out really well.  They were all so excited to see him walk and it was just great to see them loving our boy.  In an ideal world, day care wouldn’t be a full day but if he has to be at day care all day, I feel good about where he is at.

We went up to Duluth this past week-end with some friends.  It was great to get away – the weather was awful but we had a good view from the condo and the kids had so much fun playing together.  It was fun to watch.

First Steps!!!!

N has been cruising for some time now (since he got home) but we haven’t been pushing the walking thing.  We walk with his hands in ours a few times a week but figure, he’s on track and why do we want him to be able to run away from us?  Right now, he hauls pretty good with his crawl.

But, this week he took his first steps.  We know that yesterday, at daycare, he took three steps.  It was a big day, he also threw up twice and had a fever!  Today, I was busy doing something and looked over to see him taking 2 steps forward.  He was all casual and I’m not sure he even realized that he did it!  I was impressed.
