First Week

This was Nathanael’s first week at daycare.  I feel really good about our daycare and I know he is getting wonderful care.  It was hard though.  He doesn’t nap easily and when he’s stimulated, well, you can pretty much forget it.  So, when I would get to see him in the evenings he was pretty much wacked out of his head.  I was starting to get a bit freaked by the end of the week but Friday I was able to pick him up earlier, have him nap at home and he seemed happy Nathanael last night.  It’s been a big transition.  I drop him off in the morning and Joe picks him up.  By the time I get home, it’s usually only 2 hours until he sleeps so it’s dinner, bath, a short walk, a few minutes of play and night time.  I do miss him and I can tell it’s hard on him but it will be fine when we’ve all adjusted to our new normal.

He’s growing a great deal and almost looking like a toddler.  He’s 11 months.  Today we are taking him to his first hair cut (with us).  I’ll post photos.

He’s just such a happy, cheerful kid and today when he’s been with us, we can just see that wonderful Nathanael shine through.

So Much

We’ve had a great few weeks and the transition seems to be going well.  Nathanael was baptized on Saturday and was a trooper.  All the Franz’s showed up and that was great.

Today was Nathanael’s first day at day care – just 2 hours.  It was a bit hard on both of us but I am sure he will transition fine.  He’s the oldest in the room and I hope that works in his favor.  The care givers seem great and I am sure that he will charm them also.

I start back to work full time next week.  I’ve so enjoyed my time with Nathanael.  At first, it was really hard.  It was hard on him and hard for me.  The days felt long; but, a few weeks ago we got into a great grove and now things are going really well.  I am so going to miss being with him all day.  But, we have to pay the bills.

Nathanael is very close to walking.  We hold one hand and he is walking on his own.  I’m not sure how I feel about him walking . . . I think I’ll miss our little thumper (he is a LOUD crawler).

Doggy and Me

From the beginning, we were a bit worried about how Zach would react – he’s no longer number 1.  It has taken a few weeks, but I think we are getting on track.  We are really proud how great Zach has been, even though we still, on occasion, see a thought bubble over his head that says “I want my old life back.”

“I think there is a doggy in my shorts looking for muffin crumbs.”

“Umm, I think he has a big mouth”

“It sort of tickles.”

“I mean it, this is my food.”

“He took my muffin!”

“Ok, you can have some.”

“He’s my buddy”
