Visa Appt

Such a big deal had quite the feel of the DMV.  The embassy, as one might expect, is sort of a bad, ugly, fortress.  For some reason, I always had visions of being able to make the mad dash into the embassy if things went south.  For this embassy, you’d get caught in a quagmire and well, they would never let you in running at a clip pass with a passport in your hand screaming “I am an American citizen.”

All the paperwork was fine.  You just kept getting called to different windows and had interviews.  The first was finishing up some paperwork and the other we did get to raise our right hand and swear everythign was true.  I will say that the lady at the 2nd window did seem to grasp the importance and was very excited for us.  She had a southern accent and was kind but honestly, she was kind in that kind if you do something she doesn’t like, you get the feeling that she’ll hold a grudge.

The embassy had photos of Bush, Cheney, and Rice.  It sets a tone.  Joe joked that he wanted to take Nathanael’s photo under it but would have been arrested (no cameras allowed).

In any case, Nathanael was a real cutie and happy and smiley the whole time.  I forgot the bottle so was sweating it but we were in and out in under 2 hours so we got lucky.  He really did charm everyone.

I need to take some photos of Nathanael in his embassy outfit today.  I usually don’t go for the red/white/blue stuff but he sure was cute.

Isn’t it strange? With everything that we go through in this process and it all ends in DMV style. Crazy.

So happy to hear that Nathaniel is thriving!

Okay, where are the pics? WE WANT PICS!!!! WE WANT PICS!!!! 🙂
