Home Now

It’s so weird to think that yesterday I was in Guatemala and today I am back at work.  All in all, the trip was very good.  Nathanael has such a sweet disposition and a great laugh.  I do feel like we experienced the good and the challenging.  I so hope Nathanael is feeling better today – it’s heartbreaking to see such a happy baby turn into a sad baby.

^Happy baby in Antiqua.

Ass Kicked

So, Sunday night was really tough and it didn’t bring out the best in me.  Nathanael just couldn’t sleep and neither of us could figure out what the hell was going on.

We took him to the DR on MOnday and he has an ear infection and is teething like crazy.  So, we got him some meds and he seemed better.  He woud only sleep in one position, his head to my heart.  At least we got sleep last night.  We still terrorized the 6th floor of the Westin but sleep was had!  Poor kid, he has such a good disposition and you could tell he was just feeling awful.

This morning Nathanael went back to his foster mother who was so happy to see him.  He seemed really calm and happy – much more then I can say for myself.

Did you know that Guat airport has free internet access?

Visit Trip

We are having a great time.  He’s such a sweetie.  He’s also a lot more active this time!  We learned the first night that he likes to grab – and he grabbed my black bean soup – kerplunk.

He’s just more everything.  He’s also crying right now.

Trip Preparations

We leave very early on Wednesday so I’ve been busy planning and buying and organizing.  We should have just about everything – but, it’s easy to forget.  And besides our passport, we can make due.

Some retail therapy . . .

Good Day Today

Today we heard that we were out of family court on 2/11 (all that anxiety for nothing!).

But, the best news is that we were in PGN as of 3/12.  There were times that I never thought that we would be in PGN – so this is great.   This will make our visit trip all that much better knowing there is progress on our case.

One Week

Assuming all goes well, one week from tonight we will be in Guat with Nathanael.  I am so excited.  I just can’t imagine how much he’s changed in 2.5 months – Joe and I both really miss him.  It’s a funny process – as we trudge through winter and all the waiting in MN at times he feels so far away that it’s almost not real.  Othertimes, like tonight, he feels so real and I can hear his laughter.  We love his laugh.  I think one of the hardest parts of the return trip was our layover in Houston.  There was a baby that was howling/gurgling/sounding just like Nathanael.  Joe and I would both stop and thought we heard him.  It was kind of spooky to say the least.

^Our last morning together.

This is an outfit we sent him!
