I grew up collecting pennies in the little Halloween boxes for UNICEF and well, what’s not to like?  But, as we have gone through this process, I have a different opinion of them.  Below is an article from Newsweek on UNICEF and international adoptions.

There is the UNICEF spin of “adoption is in the mix of options” but things I have heard/read lead me to believe that their behavior is anti-adoption.   Who can argue with their stated purpose of “birth families getting the support they need?”  Clearly, a good thing.  And, I know they have done countless good for many.

But, with 150 million orphans, seems like we need all sorts of solutions and a body like UNICEF discouraging adoption seems – well, it’s not an organization I am going to support.
