Central Authority

As part of the grandfathering process, our lawyer is required to register us with the Central Authority within 30 business days of the new year.  We have been told that our registration has been submitted.  The CA is suppose to give a stamp or something 8 business days later to confirm registration.  Sounds simple enough, no?

Well, it seems to be really a mess.  The outgoing adminstration appointed people to the CA and the new administration doesn’t want those people in the CA so there is a whole bunch of legal wranging because of that.  The CA has no money and apparently, their temporary offices were only good until yesterday so they have no physical space.   The registration forms have changed at least 2 times that I am aware of.  The politicos are wrangling and meanwhile, the Guat side of the adoption process is at a stand still (unless people on in PGN, I guess they aren’t required to register).

Our wait for PA from the embassy is likely to be lengthy.  Last fall they were getting them out quickly (like 2 weeks) but now they are saying like 60 days.  Of course, it’s just more politico wrangling.

There are tons of rumors and it doesn’t seem like anyone is really sure what is going on.  However, that’s where we are at right now.  So, nothing to do but wait and scour the internet for any news.  Oh and go to outlet stores and buy some really, really super cute clothes for Elmer.  I’ll take some photos.   The clothes are incredibly super cute.
