Truly A Step Forward

The birth mother interview and DNA test happened.  We got the results today – it’s a match.  We now wait for P.A.  from the US embassy.  Up until this point, all of this has felt like paperwork – but now I feel like we are really making progress.    I think I was the most stressed about this step because the birth mother interview and the DNA test – well, it requires cooperation from the birth mother.  There have been cases where the birth mother disappears (it’s rare, but it happens) and other stuff happening.  So, I’m glad this part is done.  The birth mother will need to sign off on the process a few more times – but, for the most part, it’s all paperwork from here on it.  It’s a huge amount of paperwork that takes a good amount of time though.

The wait for pre-approval is usually 30 – 45 days.  The early January ones were 45 days but that includes thanksgiving and x-mas.  I hope we are on the 3o day end.

A step forward (maybe)

I heard from the agency today that the birth mother interview and DNA test was scheduled for 1/16.  We have not received confirmation if this happened so hopefully it did.  It would be rare for it not to have happened but you just never know – people get sick, things happen etc.

I wish I had known in advance but, we know something now and that’s what I’ll focus on.

If it happened, we should get DNA test results back in 2 to 2.5 weeks.  From there, we wait to exit family court and get pre-approval for the US embassy.

No News

I am vowing to not post about about how others got their referrall before/at the same time as us and they are much further along.  No.  I don’t want to do that.  No not mentioning a family at my agency got out of PGN today who received their referral one week before me.  No, I’m not bugged by that, not at all.  I am not going to mention it because there is going to be tons more.

New Year

I am home sick today – not feeling well.  So, I’ve been napping and browsing the internet for Guatemalan adoption blogs.  I downloaded all the photos from our trip and had the foster family photos developed.  I love looking at them.  Little E feels very far away.  We won’t get photos again until the end of January.  It’s looking like January will be very busy at work and it will be good to be distracted.
