The birth mother interview and DNA test happened. We got the results today – it’s a match. We now wait for P.A. from the US embassy. Up until this point, all of this has felt like paperwork – but now I feel like we are really making progress. I think I was the most stressed about this step because the birth mother interview and the DNA test – well, it requires cooperation from the birth mother. There have been cases where the birth mother disappears (it’s rare, but it happens) and other stuff happening. So, I’m glad this part is done. The birth mother will need to sign off on the process a few more times - but, for the most part, it’s all paperwork from here on it. It’s a huge amount of paperwork that takes a good amount of time though.
The wait for pre-approval is usually 30 – 45 days. The early January ones were 45 days but that includes thanksgiving and x-mas. I hope we are on the 3o day end.
